Behrens comes to Oral Roberts after coaching the Lady Sandite Varsity team to consecutive winning seasons from 2014-2016, first in over 8 years while also having the second best start in program history at 10-2 in 2016. He coached two all-state players and over eight all-conference or all-district players during his time at Lady Sandite.

Behrens was a three-year letterwinner at Northeastern State University where he helped the RiverHawks to back-to-back MIAA Tournament appearances and reach the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 2012. He was part of a 2012 team that was inducted into the NSU’s Hall of Fame. The 2012 squad also reached the No. 5 spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, which was the highest ranking in school history. He captained the team his senior year while earning all-academic honors during his three years at NSU. He was selected as the male scholar athlete of the year for his career achievements at NSU his final year at NSU.

In 2010 his collegiate experience started at John Brown University where he lettered in his lone season, playing in every game. Behrens Graduated from Charles Page High School lettering four years and making all-state his senior year.
