Detailed NPDC Soccer Schedule
Prior to the camp, players are given access to 2 training surveys and diagnostics that quantify their behavioral traits and their decision making efficiency. These tools have been developed by EXACT’s science team and are used by several professional leagues, over a hundred collegiate soccer programs, and with competitive athletes across North America. We use the results to help you tailor your training for the camp and beyond.
DAY 1
8:00-9:00 Registration
9:00 – 9:15 Introduction
Players will begin the day by being introduced to EXACT’s Mental Training Staff and the college coaches in attendance. Unlike similar soccer camps, at EXACT players are able to get to know the coaches, ask questions, and develop relationships. Our camps have limited capacity in order to ensure that our staff is able to work 1 on 1 with the players.
EXACT’s Mental Training Staff will then acquaint the players with our unique “Knowcase” approach and mental training program and the benefits of both for young players development and ascension to the collegiate level.
EXACT is the only organization that allows players to:
- Know Your Own Potential – Customized development profile
- Know What it Takes to Succeed in College – Personal Consultation with college baseball coaches
- Know Top College Programs – More college coaches partner with EXACT for player evaluation than any other organization. EXACT is the only player development system utilized by coaches at both the collegiate and professional levels for evaluation of their own teams.
9:30-10:30 Parent Lecture – Optimizing Your Son’s Potential
While the players are engaging in the mental and physical warm-ups, all parents in attendance will be given an opportunity to attend a lecture detailing what EXACT is all about and the benefits of this type of training for their son’s or daughter’s ascension to the collegiate level. We will specifically discuss the CAPI (The Competitive Athlete Psychological Inventory) and AMP (The Assessment of Mental Performance) as well as the role parents play in preparing their child for the mental rigors at the next level of the game.
9:15 – 9:30 Coach Meet Individual Groups
Camp starts with campers being divided into small groups for a personal coach introduction. Coaches will introduce themselves as well as their goals for camp. The goal of the groups is for the coach to get to know the players he is responsible for reviewing throughout camp. Campers will later eat lunch with this coach and ultimately meet them at the end of camp for a 1 on 1 review session of their performance.
9:30-11:30 Field Session I – Attacking Play
Each college represented will have the opportunity to lead a field session over a selected topic. The specific format for the field session will reflect the types of drills and training that the coaches regularly exercise with their own teams, giving players a glimpse at the type of training they can expect to experience at the collegiate level.
Off Field Sessions and Lectures
The off field program will provide all campers with a set of tools they can use to apply to improving their mental game. Topics such as breathing techniques, visualization, goal setting, and self talk will be covered as athletes create an individualized training session they can go through on a daily basis to succeed mentally in their sport.
11:30 – 12:30 Mental Training Session #1
This first session teaches mental techniques that soccer players can use immediately to train and improve their performance. Players work in small groups and with EXACT’s mental training staff in order to learn new strategies for achieving long-term success by improving the mental game.
12:30 – 1:30 Lunch
Unlike most camps/showcases, EXACT gives players the opportunity to meet and interact with coaches. Once the defensive portion of the day has been completed, players and coaches will break for lunch giving them an opportunity to meet one another, answer questions, and begin developing relationships. Most camps/showcases don’t offer this type of interaction causing a lot of players to fall into the shuffle. At EXACT we try to promote player and coach interaction through a unique, personal experience.
1:30 – 2:30 Mental Training Session 2.0
Building on the first session, students will be introduced to a system that allows the concrete development of a personal mental training program. The session is set up to have players actively think about the critical components of mental training and apply them to their own approach to the game. We develop a “mental gym”, or battery of tactics, that athletes take away with them after the camp is over so that their learning continues even once camp training is complete. The objective of this session is to provide more in-depth training on some of the techniques to improve confidence, competitiveness, and motivation.
2:30 – 5:00 Field Session II – Defensive Play
Again, a leading college coach will provide the curriculum for this session.
5:00pm Pickup/End of Day 1
DAY 2
9:00 am Player/Coach Welcome
Players start Day 2 in a 15 minute meet and greet with their camp coaches. Players review takeaways from Day 1, including training assignments that were given to them the day before. After review session, players will share with the coach their mental workout.
9:30 – 11:30 Field Session III – Transition Play
11:30 – 12:30 Tactical Session
Players divide into groups and focus on tactical responsibilities in the game. The objective of this session is to identify the different decision-making needs that are required throughout a game. Players come away with a more tactical understanding of the game. This session is led in small groups with a great deal of 1 on 1 interaction between player and coach.
12:30 – 1:30 Lunch
1:30 – 2:30 Recruiting Panel with Coaches
Understanding the recruiting process is critical for all youth athletes. The Recruiting Panel is set up to provide parents and players with an open forum to ask our coaching staff about best practices and approach to the recruiting process.
2:30 – 5:00 11 v 11 Scrimmage/Individual Coach Meetings
Camp will conclude with and 11 v 11 open field scrimmage. This allows coaches to get the best possible assessment of each given players ability and prepare for the Individual Coach Meetings.
At the culmination of Day 2 players will be given the opportunity to sit down 1 on 1 with a college coach to ask any questions they may have, and discuss their training results (getting tips of where and how they can improve their play to give themselves the best chance of reaching the next level and how they can apply what they have learned into their game).
