Juan Mascaro Jr. has been elevated to Associate Head Coach at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash. "Coach Juan Mascaro Jr. has been a tremendous asset to our program who has earned his promotion to Associate Head Coach." Mascaro Jr. is entering his second season on the Brevard College Men's Soccer staff and his third season overall coaching.  Following a successful playing career for the Tornados, Mascaro Jr. began his coaching career as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Emory & Henry College.  He then returned to Brevard College as Women's Soccer Goalkeeping Coach for the 2017 season before joining the Men's Soccer program as an assistant for the 2018 season.  Mascaro Jr. is a graduate of Brevard College with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Organizational Leadership to go along with a Master's degree in Sports Management from Georgia Southern University.  He holds a United States Federation coaching D-level license a National Goalkeeper certification and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Brevard mens soccer coach Bob Winch announced on December 19th the addition of Juan Mascaro Jr. as the teams assistant coach. Mascaro Jr., who served as the Tornado womens soccer goalkeeper coach during the 2017 campaign, helped the unit earn its most wins (11) in the NCAA era. With Mascaro Jr.s tutelage Brevard capped off the season with an NCAA program-record seven shutouts, which included triumphs over St. Andrews (3-0), Emory & Henry (3-0), Agnes Scott (2-0), Agnes Scott (4-0), LaGrange (2-0), Berea (3-0) and Wesleyan (3-0). Those shutouts also allowed the Tornado womens soccer program to notch the lowest goals against average (1.1) in the schools NCAA history. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Mascaro Jr. served as the assistant mens soccer coach at Emory & Henry in 2016. Along with recruiting, scheduling and various administrative duties, he also served as the goalkeeper coach. Mascaro Jr. was an integral part of the staff that helped the Wasps to their second-best season in the programs 24-year history as they finished the campaign 10-8-1. Mascaro Jr. earned his bachelor of arts in business and organizational leadership degree from Brevard in the spring of 2016. He also has United States Soccer Federation coaching license (E, F levels), a National Goalkeeper Certification and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.  A four-year member of the mens soccer team as the goalkeeper, Mascaro Jr. was the teams captain in 2014-15. He appeared in seven contests, logging 318 minutes, made 30 saves and finished with an 0-2-1 record.
