John Tardy
Head Coach
Staten Island
Division 3

Tardy made his collegiate head coaching debut in 2012 for the mens soccer team, and the team blossomed with every turn, posting its first ECAC postseason appearance since 2005 that same year. A Staten Island native, Tardy shined on the pitch at St. Joseph by the Sea High School where he was a four-time Staten Island Advance All-Star.  Along the way he was a part of regional and national amateur youth teams, where he travelled to Mexico, Italy, and Germany to represent various soccer clubs at the elite level.   His exploits led him to Clemson University, where he spent two years before transferring to St. Johns University, where he helped lead the Red Storm to a Big East Championship in 2009.        A part of youth development soccer for many years, Tardy spent time as an Academy Intern for Major League Soccers New York Red Bulls franchise, and has been a part of the Staten Island United youth soccer program since 2008 as both a coach and trainer.   To Tardy, hard work trumps talent when talent fails to work hard, and his teams are expected to carry that same approach on the field.      With an eye on giving back to the community, Tardy has always been cognisant of the hard work off of the field of play as well.  He and his teams have lent their services to events such as St. Johns Campus Ministrys Midnight Runs and work through the Ronald McDonald House.
