Greg Hawkins is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the DBU Mens basketball program. Tasked with responsibilities that include recruiting, player development, scouting, and player academics, his time serving at DBU has been a success both on and off the court. On the court, DBU has posted an overall record of 49-17, while going 24-8 in conference play. The Patriots have made the NCAA tournament both years Hawkins has been on staff (and 3 of the last 4 season), and multiple Patriots have taken home conference, regional, and national honors during Hawkins time on staff. Off the court, Hawkins thrives as a development coach, serving / assisting Patriot players to grow into men that understand their passions, talents, and purpose.
Prior to his arrival at DBU, Coach Hawkins served in United States Navy. After sustaining an injury during the Navys BUD/S training, Hawkins completed his contracted time in the Navy serving throughout our Nations Capital of Washington, D.C.
Hawkins graduated from Arizona State (May 2005) with a degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology. He earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) from Northern Arizona University in 2008, and recently completed another Master of Arts in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary (May 2019).
Greg and his wife Keri reside in Dallas and have been married for four years.
