Denton, who has been on the Wildcats' staff since the 2013 season and was promoted to associate head coach in the summer of 2016 season, became the program's head coach in December 2016. He becomes the fourth head coach of the program since the inaugural season in 1989. "We are very pleased to have Adam assume the role of head women's soccer coach," said Murphy. "Adam has a disciplined approach to the game and strong teaching experience. We are excited about this opportunity." During his time at Davidson he has helped the Wildcats transition into the Atlantic 10 as they enter their fourth year in the league in 2017 after a 20-year run in the Southern Conference.   "I'm honored to be taking the position of head coach here at Davidson College for the women's soccer program," said Denton. "I would like to thank Jim Murphy, Katy McNay, and every member of the Davidson family for giving me this opportunity to lead the program. It is a privilege to work with Davidson student-athletes and with the strong foundation already in place, I am extremely excited to get started with the team as we build towards future success in the extremely competitive A-10 Conference."   Prior to his addition to the Davidson Womens soccer staff, Denton was the Elite Club National League Director of Coaching in Charlotte, N.C., from 2009-2013. During his tenure at CSA he developed CSA into a regionally and nationally ranked program. Prior to the forming of Charlotte Soccer Academy, Denton was a director of coaching at Charlotte Soccer Club from 2003-2009 where the teams under his direction won 12 NC state championships, multiple tournament showcase victories and had numerous regional tournaments. Denton also serves on the Region 3 ODP and North Carolina ODP Staff. Denton was a standout player in college at Wingate. He broke onto the college scene by winning the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year in 1997. He went on to be All-SAC and All-Region each of his four years, while earning All-American honors in 1999.   Denton graduated from Wingate in 2001 with a bachelor of science in sports management.   He played three years of professional soccer, playing with the Everton FC in his hometown from 1995-1997. He currently holds coaching licenses of USSF "A", NSCAA Premier Diploma, UEFA "B" and USFF Goalkeeping.
