Colleen Leonard '12 returned to her alma mater as assistant volleyball coach in June of 2017. Leonard was a four-year letter winner for the Hornets who earned All-MIAA three times and was a captain her senior year. She finished her career with 1,175 kills, 933 digs, 202 assists and 269 blocks. "I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to return to my alma mater," Leonard said. "Coming back to the Kalamazoo College volleyball program has been a dream for years and I am excited to make this a reality. I believe that the experience I have gained in the five years after K, along with my own student-athlete experience, will provide a positive boost for the program."  Leonard returned to Kalamazoo after serving three seasons as an assistant coach and assistant equipment manager at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania where she helped the Bullets to a 49-33 record over that span. After graduating from Kalamazoo College in 2012 with a degree in business, Leonard began her coaching career as a graduate assistant with the volleyball program at Otterbein University in Ohio. The Cardinals posted a 53-16 record, won the programs first Ohio Athletic Conference championship and made two NCAA III Tournament appearances during that time. Leonard earned a masters degree in business administration at Otterbein in 2014. She studied abroad in Strasbourg, France during her time as a student at Kalamazoo. Im so happy to welcome Colleen back to Kalamazoo College as our assistant coach, said Kalamazoo Head Coach Jeanne Hess. She loved the game as a player, and was instrumental within the program, earning All-MIAA honors and several academic awards. Colleen was the epitome of the Kalamazoo College student-athlete, and will now bring that same passion and enthusiasm, combined with greater coaching experience, back to our staff. Im grateful to all of our alumni who helped make the position a reality, and invite everyone to follow the Hornets success in the seasons to come!
