A native of Beaumont, Texas, Nathan Stockie returns to his hometown as he enters his first season as assistant coach at Lamar University. An all-around athlete, Stockie played soccer, baseball and football at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in Beaumont. He was a three-time all-district selection in soccer, and was named to the All-State Tournament Team in 2008. Stockie played club soccer for the TSC Texans USSF Academy U18 team, helping the team to win State Cup and Regional Cup championships in 2007. Stockie played collegiate soccer at Long Island University, where he was an honor-roll student while earning a degree in sports management. As a senior, he was fourth in the nation with an average of 6.2 saves per game. After graduating from LIU, Stockie played professionally in Finland. During the offseason, he returned to Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, where he was assistant coach for the boys and girls varsity teams.
