Tunnicliffe joins Niagara University with 15 years of coaching experience at the youth, collegiate and professional levels. Tunnicliffe is also a head coach at Western New York Flash Academy. He most recently served as the assistant womens soccer coach at the University of the Incarnate Word, an NCAA Division I program, in San Antonio, Texas.


From August 2015 to February 2016, Tunnicliffe served as the Football Recruitment Officer for Everton Football Club, part of the English Premier League. His responsibilities included scouting and recruiting, as well as planning and executing practice sessions specifically targeted for elite U8-16 players.

Tunnicliffe was the head womens soccer coach at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas from 2012-15. He led the NAIA Division I program to its first ever postseason tournament appearance in 2013. In 2014, he coached the team to its most successful finish in program history; the team went 10-8-2 overall and 7-2 in conference play. He led the team to another postseason appearance, landed four players on all-conference teams and was named the Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

Tunnicliffe got his first taste of collegiate coaching as a volunteer assistant womens soccer coach at NCAA Division II St. Edwards University from Jan.-July 2011.

Prior to entering collegiate coaching, Tunnicliffe served as a Director of the Jr. Academy at Lonestar Soccer Club in Austin, Texas from 2009-12. He led the coaching staff and was responsible for training, as well as recruiting, both staff and players. He also served as the head coach for the U11-18 youth teams.

Tunnicliffe got his start in coaching with FC Arsenal Youth Soccer Club, where he served as the Director of Coaching from 2003-09.

A native of Liverpool, England, Tunnicliffe received his bachelors degree in sports studies from Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom in 2000. He graduated with a master of science in skill acquisition from Liverpool Hope University (UK) in 2017. 

Tunnicliffe resides with his wife Rosie, his daughter Faron, and his son Freddy in Hamburg, NY.
