Alex Suprise begins his first season as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program in 2018. "Alex is going to be a great addition to the coaching staff," said Traina, who has guided the Bison to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs in each of the last 10 seasons, winning a pair of championships (2010, 2014). "He comes from a family of coaches. His father, Scott, coaches at perennial Top 25 school University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, while his brother, Philip, is an assistant coach at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Alex was a superior defender in college and brings a fresh face to work with our defense." A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Suprise comes to Dudley following a four-year playing career as a defender at Virginia Wesleyan. He appeared in 54 matches (38 starts). The Marlins posted a combined 36-24-12 mark during Suprises time in Virginia. He graduated in May after majoring in both business and recreation and leisure studies. I am extremely proud and excited to be a part of the Nichols College community and the mens soccer program, said Suprise. I would like to thank coach Traina for bringing me to Nichols to begin my collegiate coaching career. I am eager to help build on the programs prominent history and tradition. I cant wait for the season to start! During his time at Virginia Wesleyan, Suprise was a staff coach for the Marlins Soccer Academy Summer Camps (2014-17) and also worked the programs ID Camp (2016-18).  Suprise cut his teeth coaching for the Milwaukee Wave as a summer camp instructor (2013-15) working with kids ages 5-11. He was also a summer camp director for the parks and recreation department in Franklin, Wis. (2015), where he created a curriculum for coaches to follow, as well as the Croatian Eagles Soccer Club (2012-17) and Milwaukee Urban Soccer Collaborative (2014-17). Suprise was the summer speed and agility director, and personal trainer for the Eagles.
