Tamar Hosam is a second year graduate assistant coach for Ohio Valley University womens soccer. She has been a part of making history with the team winning two conference titles in 2017 and 2018. The Lady Scots made two appearances in the NCAA regional tournament, ranking third in the region this year. Tamar is currently a part-time coach at West Virginia Select, where she coaches players from 9-12 grade. Hosam was a two-year starter for the Fighting Scots from 2015-2016. She served as the team captain during her senior year. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Wellness in May of 2017, and is currently persuing her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from OVU.
The Trinidad national gained most of her soccer experience at both high school and club level in her homeland, Trinidad and Tobago. She attended St. Augustine Secondary School, where she helped led her team to 1st place in the Secondary Schools Intercol Championship, taking both the East Zone title as well as the Final Big Four title in 2008 and again in 2010. In 2011, Hosam was named MVP, Coachs Player of the year, and Most Disciplined Player her final year at the National Secondary Schools Banquet. She then went on to the club level where she excelled at San Juan Jabloteh FC for two years, and at Vision Forward International (VFI), coached by former national player Brent Sancho. Hosam then reunited with her high school coach and teammates in the establishment of St. Augustine FC, competing in the premier division for Trinidad & Tobago Womens League Football (WoLF) for four years, placing second in the division of their debut.
During her time as an undergraduate at Ohio Valley Hosam was exposed to West Virginia recreational soccer. She attained her Grade 8 referee license where she officiated youth soccer (travel and recreational) ranging from U-8 to U-19 matches for three years. Hosam also completed the Developmental Certified Coaching Camp conducted by Marshall University Womens Head Coach, Kevin Long. Hosam had the opportunity to coach a coed U-12 team for a brief period, before returning home to compete with her club over the summer.
