Cooper begins his second season with the Santa Monica College Womens Basketball team.  As a player Coach Cooper started his collegiate career on the junior college level at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa California.   He was an All Conference Point Guard for the Pirates.  As an All-Conference point guard at Orange Coast College, Coop broke the Orange County record for threes in a game when he went 10 for 13 versus Saddleback College and is currently stands 3rd in the schools history for career 3-pointers made. He went on to play at California State University-East Bay where he was team captain and currently holds the Cal Pac Single Season 3-point percentage record at 47%. According to Coach Cooper his greatest achievement was becoming a Graduate Assistant Coach his senior season and earned a Bachelors Degree. Coach Cooper is very active in all levels of basketball.  In addition to teaching part time at SMC, Coach Coop also works as an NBA performance assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers, working with all of the players during their off season workouts.  Coop has also worked as an assistant coach at Kobe Bryants Summer Camp held at the University of California Santa Barbara.  At SMC Coop will be the teams recruiting coordinator as the SMC Womens Basketball program looks to elevate the level of talent.  During practices he will work with the forwards and posts bringing a wealth of knowledge of the drills and techniques he as used and learned both with the Clippers and with the Kobe Bryant Camp.  Coach Coop is also one of the camp directors for the Santa Monica College Basketball Camps. Coach Cooper says his goal is to teach lifes lessons through the beautiful game of basketball and better prepare his players for a successful future. Coach Strong on Assistant Coach Anthony Cooper: I am thrilled to have Coop on our staff.  He is an excellent recruiter in addition to having a wealth of knowledge that can be valuable for all of the players in our program.  Im looking forward to turning around the culture of SMC Womens Basketball and Coop will have a lot to do with what we do here both now and in the future.
