Ryan Arvin just completed his fourth season as a member of the St. Bonaventure men's soccer coaching staff in 2018.
Arvin continues to be integral in the development of the Brown and White's young core. Under Arvin's guidance, Luke Iacobellis has emerged as an Atlantic 10 first-tier goalie, ranking fourth in the Atlantic 10 in saves and fifth in save percentage during the 2017 season.
Arvin's experience and vision is crucial in helping St. Bonaventure's incoming players make the transition from club/high school to the Division I level. The Bonnies have had selections to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in each of the last four seasons with Kosi Nwafornso, Paul Afful, Nicola Bonso, and Isaac Boamah all earning spots.
In his first season on the St. Bonaventure sideline, Arvin was essential in guiding the Bonnies through a transition year. A goalkeeper himself, Arvin was able to mentor St. Bonaventure's goalkeeping core through their rookie seasons.
The Jupiter, Fla. native spent four years as a goalkeeper at Canisius College before finishing out his playing career at Mercyhurst in 2014. Arvin helped guide the Lakers to a 19-3 (10-1 PSAC) record, including a trip to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament Sweet Sixteen. For Mercyhurst, Arvin started 12 games, finishing with a perfect 12-0 record.
At Canisius, Arvin did not appear in any games his freshman year, however, started 24 games the rest of his career as a Golden Griffin. Arvin would leave Canisius holding three program records, including his 1.18 career goals against average, his 1.08 single-season goals against average (2013), and his four single-season shutouts tied the programs best-ever. The 2013 Western New York Goalkeeper of the Year and the two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week selection finished with exactly 100 career saves and recorded five career shutouts.
Before coming to Canisius, Arvin lettered for four seasons at Jupiter High School. Arvin played in 23 games his senior year, posting a 0.69 goals against average and earning him an honorable mention selection to ESPN's Rise All-America Team.
Arvin holds level one and level two NSCAA goalkeeping diplomas and a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma. He is completed his Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) at St. Bonaventure in May 2018.
