Devarus Walker begins his first year at Stillman College after spending the last year at Jones County Junior College (Miss.), where he helped lead the Bobcats this past season to state and regional championships and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament. Prior to Jones, Walker, a former East Central Community College (Miss.) basketball standout, spent four years at his alma mater as an assistant to his former coach, Maurice Bowie, and Robert Thompson. Walker was a member of the 2007-08 and 2008-09 Warrior squads.  Walker brings an outstanding track record of player development, having coached several players to Division I institutions including Stephen F. Austin (Southland), Florida A& M (SWAC), Southern Miss (Conference USA) and Radford (Big South) as well as other 4-year institutions. Walker is a native of Hickory, Mississippi, and a 2007 graduate of Newton County High School, where he was a standout in basketball and was also a member of state championship teams in tennis. He received honors in both sports. Walker earned an associates degree at ECCC in 2009 and received a bachelors degree in physical education at William Carey University in Hattiesburg in 2012, where he also played basketball and tennis. In addition to his college coaching duties, he has given back to the community serving as an intern at the YMCA in Hattiesburg, were he operated summer sports camps for children age five to 13.
