Matt Muia joined the University of Georgia soccer staff as a coach in June 2017. He came to UGA after serving as the interim head coach for the womens team at Southeastern Louisiana during the 2016 season and assistant coach during the 2015 season. In 2015, the Lions were crowned Southland Conference Champions and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. in addition to goalkeeper Hope Sagadash being named second team All-American. Muia previously served as a volunteer coach from 2013-2015 at Florida Atlantic University. He has also served as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of North Georgia in 2008 and 2009 in addition to working various camps across the nation.

Muia will primarily work with video scout coordination, a role that helped the Bulldogs earn two wins over top-20 ranked competition. Georgia advanced to the 2015 SEC Tournament for the 17th time in school history and earned a win against No. 4 Texas A&M, marking the highest-ranked team a UGA squad has ever defeated.

Muia played soccer and earned his degree in Physical Education from the Univeristy of North Georgia in 2010. He holds a USSF National C License and a NSCAA National Goalkeeper License.
