Whitney Miller is entering her second season as the Director of Volleyball Operations with the University of Tennessee volleyball program. She will primarily be responsible for handling team travel, camps, daily administrative duties, alumni relations, equipment and growing the teams courtside premium seating. In her first season at University of Tennessee, Miller played a key part in the largest single-season turnaround in program history. The Lady Vols had a 14-win increase overall from 2017 to 2018, 11-win increase in Southeastern Conference play and an eight-place jump in the conference standings. After being picked to finish 10th, Tennessee to 16 SEC wins and a second place finish in his first season on staff. For the 15th time in program history, Tennessee was selected to the NCAA Tournament advancing to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the 10th time in UT history. The Lady Vols were ranked as high as 19th in the AVCA Rankings, reentering the polls for the first time since 2012. The team was ranked in the final five polls of the season. Against the AVCA top-25, the Lady Vols captured four-ranked wins in 2018, the most of any SEC team and the only team in the conference to have a winning record. During the final seven games of the 2018 season, Miller served in a coaching role in addition to her normal gameday duties of coding and distributing analytical statistics.   Miller comes to Tennessee after a decorated career at Springfield College, where she was a graduate assistant for two seasons and a student-athlete for four years at the NCAA Division III level. The Cuba, N.Y. native graduated from Springfield College with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and is pursuing her Master's degree in Athletic Administration.   During her times on the sidelines at Springfield, Miller was part of a coaching staff that helped guide Springfield to the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship Sweet 16, the Pride's fourth appearance in the regional final in the last seven seasons.  She started her coaching career as an assistant coach with the Western New England women's volleyball program in 2015.   Miller, who earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America and New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference honors in her playing career, was a key member of the Pride's squad that reached the NCAA Division III Championship Elite Eight in 2011.  A two-time captain for the Pride, Miller helped direct Springfield's offense to the top hitting percentage in the country in 2013, and at the time of her graduation, was one of only eight players in the program's storied history to go to the NCAA Championship all four years of her career.
