Gilleland joined the Chattanooga staff in February 2017 from William & Mary University where she completed her first season as the Tribe's assistant coach. While at William & Mary, she assisted with all aspects of the volleyball program including duties as a recruiting coordinator and was primarily responsible for coaching the W&M setters. Gilleland will assume the same responsibilities for the Mocs.

Gilleland entered the coaching platform in 2016 following a stellar four-year career at Ohio University. As a setter for the Bobcats, she was a two-time All-American selection and was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Player of the Year as well as the Setter of the Year in both 2013 and 2014. In 2015, she led the league in assists and earned her third-straight spot on both All-MAC and All-Region first teams.

During her career, she helped OU to four conference titles and two NCAA Tournament bids. Currently, Gilleland sits second all-time in OU program history with 10.45 assists per set, third with 4,702 career assists and sixth with 101 service aces.
