Prairie View A&M women’s soccer coach Abe Garcia took the helm in 2008 and has coached the Lady Panthers to the SWAC Tournament in each of his four seasons. Entering his fifth season, Garcia is fresh off of a SWAC Tournament semi-final appearance in 2011.

In 2009, the Garcia-coached Lady Panthers made it to the conference championship game. He coached the freshman of the year, forward Yosselyn Aguilar and has coached three All-SWAC first team players (Aguilar, midfielder Abigail Escobar, midfielder Monica Diaz earned honors in 2009, and Forward Angie Guillory in 2011). Garcia has coached three All-SWAC Tournament team players during his tenure, as well as five All-SWAC second team players.

Before Prairie View A&M, Garcia began his coaching career as the Waller High School soccer coach. He is a part of the South Texas Youth Soccer Association ODP staff. The function of ODP is the identification, selection, and opportunity for development of the state’s top players through high-level training and competition. It also provides the means by which these players are prepared to compete for selection for regional, national, and professional opportunities.
