Former Monmouth University all-conference goalkeeper Alex Blackburn returned to the Hawks as an assistant coach in 2014. In his current position, he works closely with the Hawks’ goalkeepers. In his first season, Eric Klenofsky led the nation in goals-against average (0.48), while the Hawks also took the national statistical crown as a team in GAA (0.48) and save percentage (.883).
SENIOR (2012): Played every minute of all 19 games in goal for the Hawks, earning All-NEC First Team honors… Posted an .823 saves percentage (25th-NCAA) and an 0.70 goals-against average (10th-NCAA)… Compiled nine clean sheets and an 11-4-4 record… Shut out Towson (Aug. 24), Rider (Aug. 31), Columbia (Sept. 9), College of Charleston (Sept. 16), Fairleigh Dickinson (Oct. 5), Quinnipiac (Oct. 11), Saint Francis (Pa.) (Oct. 21), LIU Brooklyn (Oct. 28) and Sacred Heart (Nov. 4)… Made a season-high nine saves in defeat at St. Francis (N.Y.)(Oct. 26)… Made seven saves in a 1-1 draw against Hofstra (Sept. 2), including a game-saving stop on a penalty kick in the second overtime.
JUNIOR (2011): Saw action in every minute the Hawks played in 2011 in goal, posting a 14-6-2 record with 13 shutouts, 0.61 goals-against average and a .818 save percentage … Earned shutouts in his first three starts in net against Saint Peter’s, Boston University and nationally-ranked William & Mary … Also posted clean sheets against Seton Hall, Columbia, LIU Brooklyn, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, Quinnipiac, St. Francis (N.Y.), Robert Morris, Mount St. Mary’s and Stony Brook (NCAA Tournament First Round) … Made a then season-high six saves against Quinnipiac on Oct. 21, before holding Stony Brook without a goal and making seven saves on Nov. 17 in the NCAA Tournament First Round on the Great Lawn … Made a crucial save in the penalty kick shootout against Central Connecticut in the NEC Tournament Semifinals.
SOPHOMORE (2010): Started one game for MU, playing the first half in the Hawks’ 1-1 conference draw at Quinnipiac… He allowed one goal and made four saves against the Bobcats.
FRESHMAN (2009): Saw action in a pair games, earning one start… Recorded three saves against Saint Francis [Pa.] in his first collegiate action (10/25)…In first career start at goalkeeper notched a career-high five saves in a 3-0 shutout win over Central Connecticut State (10/30).
HIGH SCHOOL: The Massachusetts state Olympic Development Program (ODP) goalkeeper… Also plays club ball for New England Eagles FC… Natick High School team captain in 2007, was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2008… Named an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star as a senior.
