Amalya Clayton was named the program’s first-ever full-time assistant women’s soccer coach on July 25, 2014. Clayton arrives on the Danforth Campus after spending the 2013 season as a volunteer assistant coach at NCAA Division I Howard University. She also spent a season as the junior varsity coach at South County High School in Lorton, Va. A native of Springfield, Va., Clayton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from James Madison University in 2013. She played four seasons for the Dukes, starting 40 of 78 games played in the midfield. Clayton scored seven goals in her career, and helped James Madison to the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
