Former Marquette University women’s soccer player, Ashley Bares has been named an assistant coach on the women’s soccer staff. Bares returns to Marquette after a professional playing career with Stjarnan, part of the Úrvalsdeild League in Pepsideild, Iceland where she played from 2011-12. ares was the 2011 Golden Boot Recipient as the top striker in Iceland and was the foreign player of the year. While at Marquette, Bares had a stellar playing career for the Golden Eagles and finished among MU’s offensive leaders in multiple categories. She was a 2010 All-BIG EAST first team honoree and earned third team honors in 2008. During her playing career, Bares served as volunteer coach for Marquette soccer camps.
