Ben Gillespie enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Mercer after being brought on board by head coach Craig Gibson in August of 2012.
Gillespie was a four-year letterwinner at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga. under head coach Greg Mullins. A starting pitcher and relief pitcher at Brewton-Parker, Gillespie helped the Barons to a 2010 Southern States Athletic Conference Championship (SSAC) Championship and was a part of the 2011 squad that finished the season ranked 15th in the final NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 poll. Gillespie’s best season individually came as a senior, when he appeared in 24 games and compiled a 3-2 record with a 3.90 ERA before being named to the SSAC All-Star game.
