Former Major League Soccer goalkeeper Brian Edwards is entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Hofstra Men’s Soccer team in 2015. Edwards comes to Hofstra after serving as the goalkeepers coach at UNC Charlotte in 2013. He worked with both the 49ers’ men’s and women’s programs, and was part of a men’s staff that led UNC Charlotte to the 2013 Conference USA championship and a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Edwards will work with the Pride goalkeepers following an impressive playing career. A 2008 MLS SuperDraft second-round pick (28th overall), he played in nine games from 2008-09 and posted three shutouts with a 3-4-2 record.
