Coach Steed is now in his third year as the Dragons’ assistant coach. In 2013 the Dragons won over 30 games, finishing with a 31-24 and a great show in the regional tournament for the second straight year, beating the number one hitting team in the region (Alvin) and taking eventual champion Navarro into 13 innings. Steed’s pitching staff finished second in the conference in ERA and top five in the region that year.

Returning LHP Callaway Kirkpatrick won First Team All-Conference and closer Jared Fielden won Second Team All-Conference while leading the league in saves. Brewer Money and Kirkpatrick will represent the pitching staff in this year’s Texas-New Mexico All Star Game. All of the six sophomore pitchers signed with four year schools, three at the Division 1 level.

Last summer Steed coached in the Texas Showcase League’s Collegiate Baseball League in Dallas. The previous summer he was head coach for the Melville Millionaires organization in the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL). Steed’s team won second place in their division and made the playoffs, also placing three players on the All Star team. There he also won the 2012 League Executive Award for Coach of the Year.
