Byron Carter, Jr. is entering his fifth year as an assistant coach and eighth as a member of the Prairie View A&M University baseball staff. Coach Carter played at Prairie View A&M University from 2003 to 2004 before joining the staff in 2005. As a member of the Panther baseball staff, Carter helped the Prairie View A&M baseball program achieve several noteworthy honors as the Panthers participated in two NCAA Regionals (2006, ’07, ’12), seven SWAC Tournaments and four consecutive SWAC Tournament Championships from 2005 to 2008. Carter began his collegiate career at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. During his two-year span at Frank Phillips, Carter finished with an overall batting average of .320 and ranked amongst the top five players on the team in home runs. He transferred to Prairie View A&M shortly thereafter and helped made history as the Panthers finished with their best record in two decades after the 2004 campaign.
