Celebrated over numerous years of coaching at multiple levels down in Florida, Chad Davis came to Hamden for his first season as an assistant coach in 2016 for the women’s volleyball program and had an immediate impact on the program.
In his first season with the Bobcats, Davis had a major role in leading Quinnipiac to the largest single-season turnaround (18 wins) in the country, improving from three wins to 21. The Bobcats more than doubled their previous record for most wins in a season as full Division I members (10) while reaching the championship of their conference tournament for the first time at the Division I level. His work with the hitters led to two first-team All-MAAC selections in Allison Leigh and Jen Coffey, only the third and fourth first-team all-league selections in the program’s Division I history (and the first since 2002).
At the college level, Davis was named CVAC Coach of the Year after leading Division II Mt. Olive College to a 30-10 record in 2002 which still stands as a school record for wins and he also started the men’s volleyball program.
