Charlie Campbell enters his first season as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Saint Mary’s College in 2015 after serving two years on the coaching staff at the University of Louisville. Following a successfull college playing career at Virginia Tech and Louisville, where he appeared in two NCAA semifinals and one final, he played three seasons of professional soccer. In 2013, while playing with Ljungskile SK in Sweden, he suffered a career-ending knee injury and moved into coaching at his alma mater. Campbell signed with Orlando City Soccer Club in May of 2011. He helped guide Orlando City to the 2011 USL Pro Championship. In 2012, Campbell appeared in 20 of 24 league matches for USL regular season champions Orlando City. Campbell also started both U.S. Open Cup matches for City while notching two assists. Following his one goal and five assists, Campbell was awarded Clubman of the Year by manager Adrian Heath. Campbell was drafted in the second round, 35th overall, of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas.
