Custer joins the UAlbany staff in 2016 after three seasons as the goalkeeper coach at St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y.

The Saints made three NCAA Tournament trips in his tenure, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2015. St. Lawrence went 50-8-6 with 38 shutouts in his three seasons. He contributed to the Saints campaign by way of recruiting, scouting, video analysis and day-to-day training plans under Bob Durocher and Mike Toshack.

In 2013, goalkeeper Aaron Costello posted a goals against average of just .319 between the posts to the named the NCAA Division III statistical champion in the category under Custer. He would go on to earn NSCAA All-American honors as well as Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

Prior to his time at St. Lawrence, Custer served a brief stint at Widener University in Chester, Pa. Custer was also the co-director of the Soccer Training Network out of Beach Creek, Pa., from 2007-2012.

A 2012 and 2011 Bachelor’s degree recipient at Lock Haven, Custer also holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from St. Lawrence as well as an NSCAA National diploma.
