Former Spartan standout Chris Cvecko joined the Case Western Reserve University men’s soccer staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2016 campaign.

Cvecko will return to his alma mater, where he ranks as one of the top players in the program’s history.  The midfielder was named the 2015 University Athletic Association Most Valuable Player, while also earning NSCAA All-America Second Team and D3soccer.com All-America Third Team honors during his senior season.  For his career, he was a three-time All-UAA First Team selection, and ended his time as a Spartan ranked fifth in school history with 15 assists and sixth with 67 points and 26 goals.

In addition to his success on the field, Cvecko excelled in the classroom, earning UAA All-Academic recognition on three occasions and was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America Second Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team as a senior.

Following his playing career with Case Western Reserve, Cvecko went on to play for the AFC Cleveland Royals of the National Premier Soccer League, helping lead the team to the 2016 league championship.

Cvecko graduated from CWRU in May 2016 with his degree in engineering.
