Cory Speed is in his first season as the assistant coach with the Virginia Tech men’s soccer program. Speed came to Tech after serving as an assistant coach at nearby Roanoke College.
Speed went to Roanoke College from St. Edward’s University, where he trained goalkeepers and field players, as well as helped with strength and fitness workouts. During his time at St. Edward’s, Speed coached two NCAA Academic All-Americans, one NCAA All-American and six South Central All-Region Players. He also helped lead the Hilltoppers to a 12-3-3 record in 2012, along with a No. 24 ranking in the final regular season NSCAA Poll.
A 2008 graduate of Sterling College, Speed was an NAIA All-American honorable mention selection, the Regional Goalkeeper of the Year in 2007 and was named first-team all-region.
