Darren Lloyd will lead Suffolk women’s soccer into its ninth varsity season and his first as head coach in the fall of 2015.

Suffolk is providing Lloyd with his first collegiate head coaching opportunity, after a number of volunteering assistant positions at the Rams’ Massachusetts Division III rivals, Lesley and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Since 2008, Lloyd has been the Curriculum Director for the Galway Rovers FC. Now in his sixth season with the Rovers, Lloyd also serves as the head coach for fourth of their teams. Along the way, he also worked as the head of HR and the Director of Curriculum for Playsoccer Corp.

Lloyd’s coaching experience in the States began with the Olympic Development Program in Long Island, New York in the Summer of 2004. As the camp director for the Champions World Series, he worked with English Premiere League teams, including Liverpool FC, Manchester United, A.C. Milan and Celtic F.C. Also that summer he developed experience mentoring and coaching youths at NOGA Camps.

Prior to coming to the United States, Lloyd began his coach career working with the Cheltenham Town F.C. and the Sunderland AFC.

During his decade of coaching, Lloyd has worked with a number of notable women soccer standouts including Kristine Lilly, Leslie Osborne and Cat Whitehall.

Lloyd received his Bachelors of Science in Sports Conditioning & Coaching at Hartpurty College in Gloucester, England, where he was a member of the four-time national champion soccer team.
