Declan McGivern is in his first season as the assistant coach for the Ashland University men’s soccer program.

McGivern, a native of Huddersfield, England, played four seasons as a starting center back for the Notre Dame College men’s soccer team and is a 2016 NDC graduate (Business Management). In 71 career games, he scored eight goals and added three assists. As a senior in 2015, he recorded three goals and two helpers in 20 games.

McGivern, a two-year captain, earned first-team All-Mountain East Conference honors as a senior and a junior, and second-team all-conference laurels as a sophomore. He also was a first-team NSCAA All-Atlantic Region choice in 2014, and landed on the second team in 2015.

Growing up in England, McGivern played in the youth system at Bradford City FC, an English third-division team, for three years until the U18 level.

McGivern has played two seasons in the Premier Development League, and recently won the 2016 NPSL championship as a starter for FC Cleveland.

McGivern is a level 2-qualified coach in England.
