Eric Vasquez originally from southern California, played baseball at Fullerton College and then continued his education at California State University Fullerton where he graduated 1997 with a degree in Human Services.
After graduation he moved to Colorado to teach Math and coach high school baseball. A few years later he made the move to AZ to continue his teaching and baseball-coaching career. He was named Coach of the Year in 2001 in Metro Conference while at Cesar Chavez High School. In 2010, he was named Desert Sky Athletic Director of the Year.
After leaving public education in 2012, Eric joined the Eureka College Red Devils in Eureka Illinois for one season. The summer of 2012 Eric coached the Palm Springs Power of the Southern California Collegiate League and won a title finishing 42-7 and ranked 15th nationally among all college summer programs. One of the many players Eric coached and advised was Matt Anderson who signed as a free agent after a stellar summer with the Power. Eric stayed in Palm Springs to become the pitching coach at College of the Desert. Eric worked with pitchers and catchers as well as all aspects of the team in regards to travel, academics, and budgets. Many pitchers that worked with Eric moved on to division 2 schools like Central Washington, Colorado State-Pueblo, Central Oklahoma and Chico State.
Summer 2013, Eric stayed on with the Power and help lead them to back-to-back Southern California Collegiate Championship and a 46 win season. He also worked with another free agent signee in Edgar Gomez, Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
