Gene Smith enters his first season as the head coach of the Marist women’s soccer program with a plethora of coaching experiencing across NCAA Division II and Division III levels along with recruits who have garnered multiple All-Americans, All-Region, All-Conference, Players of the Year, Freshman Team selections, and Defensive Players of the Year.
As Assistant Coach At Marist
- Helped lead the Red Foxes to a 10-9-1 overall record and 5-4-1 record in conference
- The program advanced to the MAAC semifinals for the first time 2012
- Junior forward Camille Bowen was selected first team All-MAAC, senior midfielder Ashlee Burke was selected second team All-MAAC
- Freshmen defender Bianca Furci and forward Keri Bradley were selected to the All-MAAC rookie team.
At Davis and Elkins as Head Coach
- Named Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Coach of the Year after winning the 2015 regular season championship and earning a NCAA Midwest Regional Ranking.
- Departed Davis and Elkins with a 25-11-3 overall record.
- Coached three student-athletes to All-Conference selections and two to All-Freshman selections.
- Smith also coached the Freshman and Offensive Player of the Year in 2015 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.
