Jeff DeGroot is preparing to begin his first season as an Assistant Coach with the Loyola University Chicago men’s soccer program. DeGroot spent the past three years as an assistant coach at the University of Chicago.

During his three-year stint in Hyde Park, DeGroot helped lead the Maroons to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, the team took home the University Athletic Association (UAA) title, going 5-0-2 in conference play and surrendering only one goal during league action en route to claiming the UAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This past season, the Maroons posted an impressive 0.85 goals against average on their way to a 12-5-3 overall record and a second straight postseason berth.

DeGroot played collegiately at nearby DePaul University in Lincoln Park. He was a member of the 2007 Blue Demon squad that won the Big East Conference and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Following his time at DePaul, DeGroot, who was also recognized as a Big East Academic All-Star for his efforts in the classroom, went on to play for the Dayton Dutch Lions, Indiana Invaders, Ela Elite and Bridges FC.

DeGroot earned his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from DePaul in 2007.
