For the fourth straight year, University of West Georgia Head Baseball Coach Skip Fite will have veteran support on the bench, as Jeff Smith returns to his assistant coach post for the 2013-14 season.
Smith came to West Georgia following five seasons on the staff at former GSC East rival Montevallo. He served the Falcons in a variety of capacities, including pitching coach, recruiting coordinator, and, briefly, interim head coach.
Smith was part of one of the most successful runs in the history of Montevallo’s program. In 2006 the Falcons finished third in the NCAA Division II World Series, and a year later the team advanced to the finals of the Division II South Central Region Tournament.
