Joe Hunter is entering his seventeenth season as the head men’s soccer coach. In his 16 seasons as the Gator head men’s soccer coach, Hunter has amassed a record of 108-197-23. Last season, SF State posted a 4-10-4 overall record and a 3-8-4 record in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Five of the last seven years, the Gators had an All-CCAA Team selection. In 2011, Sasha Chalak and Jose Vitela each were selected to the All-CCAA Honorable Mention Team. Then in 2010, Chalak was named to the Second Team. This past season, Edgar Villagrana was selected to the NSCAA All-West Region Team. In 2009, two Gators were named to the All-Region Team. In 1997, Hunter was honored as Northern California Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year after his team compiled a 10-9-1 overall record, 8-6-0 in the NCAC. He has coached several All-NCAC and All-California Collegiate Athletic Association Team Members.
