Joel DeLass enters his fourth season as an assistant men’s soccer coach for Wheaton College in 2015.

In the three seasons that DeLass has been with Wheaton, the program has compiled a 57-13-5 overall record and 18-1-2 in CCIW play, where they have gone on to win three straight regular season and tournament championships. In each of the past three seasons, DeLass has helped guide the Thunder to the NCAA tournament, reaching the Elite Eight in 2012 and the National Championship match in 2014. He has helped develop 5 All-Americans, 11 All-Region, and 17 CCIW All-Conference players.

DeLass is a 2008 graduate of Wheaton, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Economics in three and half years. He was a four-year letter winner for the Wheaton men’s soccer program from 2005-2008. He was a member of the 2006 team that made it to the NCAA national championship match and went on to serve as team captain during the 2008 season. DeLass was a three-time All-CCIW honoree at Wheaton, earning NSCAA first team All-American, first team All-Region, and CCIW player of the year accolades in 2008.

Following his playing career at Wheaton, DeLass went on to play professionally for five years in the USL PRO. He spent his rookie season with Charlotte Eagles before signing with the Dayton Dutch Lions for the next four seasons. During his time in the USL PRO, DeLass captained the Dutch Lions for three seasons, leading them to the quarterfinals of the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where they lost to eventual champions Sporting KC. He garnered USL All-League accolades in 2012, started and played in over 100 career matches, and was named to the USL team-of-the-week 15 times.

DeLass also coaches with the Chicago Sockers F.C., where he is the head coach and director of the high school boys teams at the N/W location.

He holds a United States Soccer Federation ‘B’ license.
