Around the soccer circuit nearly all of his life, John Tardy made his collegiate head coaching debut in 2012 for the men’s soccer team, and the team blossomed with every turn, posting its first ECAC postseason appearance since 2005.

A Staten Island native, Tardy shined on the pitch at St. Joseph by the Sea High School where he was a four-time Staten Island Advance All-Star.  Along the way he was a part of regional and national amateur youth teams, where he travelled to Mexico, Italy, and Germany to represent various soccer clubs at the elite level.  His exploits led him to Clemson University, where he spent two years before transferring to St. John’s University, where he helped lead the Red Storm to a Big East Championship in 2009.  A part of youth development soccer for many years, Tardy spent time as an Academy Intern for Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls franchise, and has been a part of the Staten Island United youth soccer program since 2008 as both a coach and trainer.  There, not only is Tardy tasked with developing soccer skill on the pitch, but also is instrumental at infusing leadership and proper work rate in his players.
