Jose Pipo Castillo returns for his fourth season in 2014. Pipo was born in El Salvador, and his love for soccer started in the streets of his home town in Santa Ana.  He played varsity in high school for Colegio Bautista.  In 1976 he represented his country as a starter for the U-17 National Team in a tournament hosted by Louisiana State University. Pipo has been a part of the College of the Desert family since he arrived in the Coachella Valley in 1980.  He began at COD in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program where he completed  English as a Second Language  He also earned his High School Diploma and played soccer for COD in 1980 and 1981. Pipo then transferred to California State University, Los Angeles where he earned a BS in Business Administration.  In 1989 he came back to COD and has been teaching for the ABE program for the last 21 years.  In 2005, he was inducted into the College of the Desert Alumni Hall of Fame.
