Joseph Réal André enters 2012, his fifth with the Lightning, as CUNYAC’s reigning Coach of the Year following the program’s first-ever CUNYAC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011.
Crowned the conference regular season champion after compiling an 11-5 record, the Lightning defeated the College of Staten Island (4-0) and the 2011 champion, Hunter College (2-0), before disposing of Baruch College on penalty kicks to earn the conference title. Lehman then advanced to the NCAA Tournament where it fell 3-0 to local power Stevens Institute of Technology. Upon the season’s conclusion Lehman was well-represented on the conference’s list of postseason awards with the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and four additional All-Stars all coming from the Lightning.
