JP Lowenthal is currently the assistant coach at Hardin-Simmons University leading the current HSU team to quarterfinals in the American Southwest Conference playoffs with a 8-5-2 record during the 2015-2016 campaign.

John Paul Lowenthal is originally from Guatemala but has been playing and coaching soccer in the U.S. for the past 5 years. In Guatemala he was a part of Futeca Camp Elite Club, which was a development program for players wanting to go play collegiate soccer all over the world. His first experience was in Middle Georgia College, Division I junior college, he led the team to a final first year and a semifinal in second year. Coach JP, as he is called by his players, later moved to Texas and began playing at Hardin-Simmons University. He help led HSU team to a semifinal first year and 2 championships the next following years. Coach JP has also played abroad in Australia at Macquarie University and in Austria at Salzburg Amateur.
