Former UIW player and volunteer assistant coach Julien Brown-Latham joined the staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2016 season.
Brown-Latham played for the Cardinals for two years as a forward. He played in 20 games and made six starts in 2011 when he scored five goals for the team. He chipped in two goals and an assist, including a game-winning goal in 2012 in 14 games. He played on a pair of NCAA Division II tournament teams. The 2012 squad was Lone Star Conference and South Central Region champions.
Prior to transferring to UIW, Brown-Latham was with the UNC-Charlotte men’s soccer program for three years and appeared in eight games. He earned a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from UNC-Charlotte and a rehabilitation sciences degree from UIW.
In addition to serving as a volunter coach at UIW, he was a volunteer coach for FC Carolina Alliance from 2008-11. He was an academy trainer for the San Antonio United Soccer Club U10 boys in 2012-13. He was an academy coach for the NEYSO Liberty for U9, U12 and U16 girls from 2013-15.
Since playing his last game for UIW, he has appeared on the field for Corinthians FC of San Antonio in 2014 and 2015 helping the team to an NPSL South Division title and a South Central Conference finals spot.
