Kate Thomas to serve as the sixth head coach of the Corsairs women’s soccer program taking over on the 2016-2017 season. Thomas inherits an UMass Dartmouth squad that has made four consecutive appearances in the Little East Conference Championship tournament, advancing to the semifinals in each of the past two seasons. In 2014, the Corsairs posted an 8-10-1 record, including a 3-4 mark against conference opponents.
Prior to her arrival in Dartmouth, Thomas guided the State University of New York at Canton women’s soccer program between 2010 and 2012. During her three-year tenure, she led the Roos to a 21-33 record, including an appearance in the 2010 Sunrise Conference tournament finals. A talented recruiter, Thomas mentored two United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Honorable Mention All-Americans, three USCAA Academic All-Americans, two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athletes, and four All-Sunrise Conference selections.
Thomas also boasts nine years of experience as an assistant coach at the Division III level, including a total of four seasons at Springfield College. She helped the Pride compile a combined record of 59-18-7 (.744), three NCAA Division III tournament appearances and an Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament berth. Thomas began her intercollegiate coaching career at her alma mater, Keuka College, assisting the Wolfpack between 2003 and 2006.
Since 2013, Thomas has served as the assistant general manager for the Brockton Rox, a member of the Future Collegiate Baseball League in Brockton, Mass. She is responsible for management and administration of the baseball front office, stadium, and event complex. Thomas also coordinates all aspects of the player personnel, in addition to promoting the organization through general media relations and multimedia platforms.
