Kurt Albrecht begins his second season as the head men’s soccer coach at Illinois College in 2016.
In his first season in charge of the Blueboys, Albrecht led the men’s soccer team to a 9-7-2 record. Goalkeeper Ty Clearwater was named a First Team All-Midwest Conference selection at the end of the season and the nine members of the 2016 class ended as the winningest class in program history.
Albrecht recently spent three seasons at St. Ambrose University as a men’s and women’s soccer assistant coach. During that time, the Fighting Bees men’s program had their first winning season in five years, as well as their first national ranking in 2013.
Prior to St. Ambrose, Albrecht worked three seasons as an assistant men’s coach at Elmhurst College. The Bluejays won their first-ever CCIW title and made their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament during that time.
Before taking the job at Illinois College, Albrecht has been the head coach of Palm City FC, a club based out of Fort Myers, Fla. in the Women’s Professional Soccer League (WPSL). The WPSL is the highest level of women’s amateur soccer in the country. He is also a coach for the Illinois Olympic Development Program.
A Chicagoland native, Albrecht earned a scholarship coming out of high school to play for DePaul University. After two years at the Division I school, he ended his career at Augustana College and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2009. During his time as an assistant coach at St. Ambrose, he earned a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.
