Laura VanWart is an assistant coach at the University of California, Berkeley. VanWart comes to The Beach from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif., where she served one year as an assistant. With the Gaels, VanWart worked primarily with the forwards and midfielders. Under her guidance, the school had its best offensive season since 2002, scoring in 19 out of 20 games. Prior to her stint at St. Mary’s, VanWart was the head coach at Contra Costa College for three years. In her first season, VanWart was named the 2006 Bay Valley Conference Coach of the Year.
