Lee Schopp, ‘93, became the first Associate Head Coach in Hope Men’s Soccer history beginning with the 2016 season. This appointment comes after serving successfully as an assistant coach the previous 22 seasons.

The Carmel, Indiana native had a decorated playing career at Hope, serving as the team’s goalkeeper from 1991-1993.  Schopp became the first two-time NSCAA Division III All-American soccer player at Hope, garnering First-Team All-America honors during his senior season. Schopp still holds the school record for most shut-out wins in a single season, posting 13 clean sheets in 1992.

Schopp has been on the sidelines at Hope since the fall of 1994 in varying roles. Starting off primarily working with the goalkeepers, Schopp has helped produce a number of successful goalkeepers who have earned All-MIAA honors, MIAA MVP honors, All-Region honors, and NSCAA All-America honors.  His influence with the goalkeepers expanded over time as he became the lead assistant coach, earning NSCAA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year, before being appointed as Associate Head Coach in 2016.
