Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Dr. Nancy Detwiler has announced the hiring of Mackenzie Arment as the head women’s soccer coach for the 2016 season. Arment becomes the sixth head coach in program history after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Lions’ men’s soccer team under head coach Dan Visser. In his two years with the Eastern Nazarene men’s soccer team, the Lions earned the Commonwealth Coast Conference Team Sportsmanship Award in 2013 while Scott Hansen garnered All-CCC honorable mention twice and Andrew Nelson picked up All-CCC second team honors in 2014.

A former Division I student-athlete, Arment came to Eastern Nazarene College following a one-year stint as an assistant boys’ soccer coach at Manheim Central High School in Manheim, Pa. At Manheim, Arment helped train the varsity and junior varsity squads while also ensuring the academic success of the student-athletes.

He has also served as an assistant coach with the PA Classics club based out of Lancaster, Pa. Arment coached the Under-9 Academy and Premier level teams and assisted with training sessions for the Academy Development and Junior Academy programs.

As an undergraduate, Arment played soccer for four years at Penn State. He appeared in 81 matches for the Nittany Lions in his career, tallying six goals and registering 15 assists. Arment helped lead Penn State to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2009 and 2010. He was a four-time Big Ten All-Academic honoree and a unanimous selection to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2008. Arment graduated in 2012 from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Movement Science. He is also a certified NASM personal trainer.

Arment inherits a squad which has reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs in each of the past four seasons. The Lions posted a 9-10-2 overall record in 2014 and advanced to CCC semifinals for the second time in three years. Eastern Nazarene also earned a berth to the ECAC Tournament for the second consecutive season this past fall.
