Marcia McDermott, a trailblazer among college women’s soccer coaches, was named the head coach of the Army Black Knights, as announced by Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan in January 2013. McDermott takes over as the fourth head coach of the program, which is set to enter its 28th season in the fall of 2013.
McDermott comes to West Point after most recently serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2011. McDermott joined Team U.S.A. in early 2011, working with the forwards and managing the scouting duties for the silver medal World Cup squad.
With nearly 25 years of collegiate, professional and national coaching experience under her belt, McDermott will look to recharge the Army program which has earned two NCAA Championship berths in the past five seasons.
