Former Huskie second baseman Marvin Sanchez joined the Northern Illinois coaching staff in January 2013 as the team’s third assistant, working with the infield and serving as the team’s first base coach while he works on his Master’s degree. Sanchez played for Head Coach Ed Mathey and Assistant Coach Tom Carcione in his days with the Huskies.
Sanchez, a Chicago native who attended Clemente Academy, played four seasons with the Huskies from 2008-11 with 106 appearances during his career with 51 starts between second base and shortstop.
